Deidre Brown

Deidre Brown is a PhD (Architecture) student at the Department of Architecture, University of Auckland. Her doctoral thesis traces the development of Maori religio-political architecture, from 1860 to the present day, through the building programmes of nationalist leaders. Related research includes the place of Maori buildings and drawings in Western architectural discourse and colonial institutions. Publications in Architecture New Zealand (Auckland), Interstices 2 & 4 (Auckland), Journal of the Polynesian Society (Auckland), Encyclopedia of World Vernacular Architecture (Cambridge, U. K.).
